Severe Slouching and Neck Misalignment Resolved With Spinal Traction and Manipulation

A 15-year-old female was the subject of a case study exploring how effective chiropractic treatment would be in resolving severe slouching, neck and back pain, headaches, and other health issues ranging from shortness of breath to muscle cramps. After thirteen months of treatment, x-rays showed that kyphosis (slouching) and forward head posture had been significantly reduced, and the abnormal mid-back curve had been corrected. The patient reported 80-100% improvement in all symptoms and pain.

How It Works

Researchers used Deed Harrison’s mirror-image adjustments, mirror-image corrective exercises, spinal traction, and spinal manipulation to treat the patient’s spinal deformities, headaches, and pain. Each of the treatments was customized to the patient based on x-rays and digital analysis.

Spinal abnormalities can put stress on the body and contribute to (or cause) pain. An abnormal spine position can compress local nerves, causing sharp, shooting pain, nerve interference (when electrical nerve signals are prevented from traveling), and other uncomfortable symptoms. By correcting and improving the spinal misalignment through the described treatment plan, the patient experienced significant relief from all symptoms.

What It Means

By identifying and treating spinal misalignment in the body, pain and discomfort can be reduced. In this case study, the patient reported a reduction and improvement in a wide variety of symptoms: pain in the ribs and chest, migraine headaches, dizziness, visual disturbances, numbness and tingling in hands, weakness and coldness in the left hand, heartburn, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, involuntary breathing patterns, and muscle cramps in the hips, thighs, and calves.

Takeaway

Providing patients with mirror-image adjustments, mirror-image corrective exercises, spinal traction, and spinal manipulation may help them to reduce their pain, discomfort, and wide variety of other related symptoms.
